Science Fun at Green Island Preschool: Rain Cloud in a Jar Experiment
At Green Island Preschool, we love bringing science to life for our little learners! Recently, our young scientists explored the fascinating world of weather with a hands-on experiment called Rain Cloud in a Jar.
This simple yet engaging experiment helps children understand how clouds form and why it rains. To begin, we filled a clear jar with water to represent the air. Then, we added a layer of shaving cream on top to act as the cloud. Using droppers, the children carefully added blue food coloring, mimicking the way water droplets gather in real clouds. As the “cloud” became heavy, the blue dye began to fall, just like raindrops!
Through this experiment, our preschoolers learned about the water cycle in a fun and interactive way. They were amazed to see how water moves through different stages before returning to the earth as rain. This activity also helped develop their fine motor skills and curiosity about the natural world.
At Green Island, we believe that science is best learned through play and exploration. The Rain Cloud in a Jar experiment was not only educational but also sparked excitement and wonder among our little scientists. We look forward to more hands-on learning adventures in the future!
